Mommy Dead and Dearest

Her entire life, Gypsy is made to believe by her mother Dee Dee that she has leukemia, asthma, muscular dystrophy, several other chronic conditions, and the mental capacity of a 7-year-old.

She is kept hidden away, undergoing several debilitating treatments, in her mother’s home into her early twenties, seemingly leading a sedentary yet peaceful life. Until one day, Dee Dee’s body is discovered lying facedown in a pool of her own blood, murdered. Gypsy is nowhere to be found.
