Honeyland by Tamara Kotevska, Ljubomir Stefanov

Honeyland follows Hatidzie, Europe’s last female wild beekeeper, and her moving struggle to maintain the natural balance of her environment when some industrious neighbours move in.

As cinematographer, along with Fejmi Daut, Samir Ljuma successfully filmed virtually unnoticed for three years in rural Macedonia. For this, the film picked up the Best Cinematography Award at Sundance. Since then, its gone from strength to strength and has widely been regarded as one the best documentaries of the year.

The Cleaners by Hans Block, Moritz Riesewieck

Every day, hundreds of millions of tweets, Instagram posts, Facebook updates and Youtube uploads make their way online from the devices of the over 3 billion people worldwide that use social media. Inevitably, a significant portion of these uploads will be reported for showing nudity, violence, harassment or promoting self-harm, hate speech and even terrorism.

But what happens next? How do social networks deal with these complaints? How do they determine what should be deleted? Who decides?

Rocketman by Toby Brusseau, Michael Linn

When we asked director Toby Brusseau if he ever worried for Mike’s life while shooting ‘Rocketman’, his reply was “Absolutely. All the time. Not only for Mike but for the crew as well”.

Who could blame him? The 63 year-old retired daredevil and limo driver ‘Mad’ Mike Hughes’ had hatched a crackpot plan to prove that the earth is flat by building a homemade rocket in his garage and launching himself into space.

Diego Maradona by Asif Kapadia

“With Diego, I would go to the end of the world. But with Maradona… I wouldn’t take a step”. Asif Kapadia, director of critically acclaimed biopics “Amy” and “Senna”, has turned his hand to one of the most controversial footballers in history.

A roller-coaster ride of immersive archival footage set to a brilliantly crafted narrative, the film takes particular interest in Maradona’s career at SSC Napoli – a city where the devil is said to require bodyguards.
