"Everyone can find a Romantic Comedy they love"

Documentary Weekly met with musician and filmmaker Elizabeth Sankey to chat about her new film, ‘Romantic Comedy’, the day after it’s live-scored UK premiere at Sheffield Doc/Fest.

The film is a beautifully crafted critical love letter to the film genre that continues to define the love lives of so many people, including Elizabeth herself as she confesses in our interview.

Unfortunately, these films are infamously narrow-minded in the diversity of people that they represent, the gender roles that they often promote and the behaviours that they uphold. But, in the making of her film, Elizabeth successfully unearth’s the qualities of the genre that make it worthy of any other.

Elizabeth’s Summer Camp bandmate, Jeremy Warmsley, composed the fresh and touching soundtrack to the film, which they performed together in a live-score during the UK premiere at Sheffield Doc/Fest.

As of May 7th 2020, Romantic Comedy is available for purchase in North America and showing on Mubi in the UK for 30 days.
