Catch "Shooting The Mafia" From 4:3's Online Film Festival For Free

As life grinds to a halt and the global Coronavirus lockdown sets in, we’re choosing to support our favourite documentary festivals, screenings and launches that have been forced to go online, by pointing you in their direction.

4:3, Boiler Room TV’s experimental film platform, has launched an online lockdown film festival packed full of eye-opening and pioneering documentaries, animations and hybrid films. Running from the 16th of April through to the 18th May, you can catch an exclusive live film screening every few days, for free.

The festival opened with the brilliant “3OHA” by Clayton Vomero, a film we haven’t stopped talking about since we caught it at last year’s Sheffield Doc/Fest, and has gone on to screen two shorts by Patrick Bresnan and Ivette Lucas, who we interviewed ahead of the release of their latest feature film, “Pahokee”.

But, it’s the programme’s next film that we’re most excited about. Kim Longinotto’s “Shooting the Mafia” is the story of Sicilian photographer and journalist Letizia Battaglia, who helped keep political pressure on the Mafia’s brutal operations by publicising their countless murders during the 1990s.

Battaglia’s photographs are as shocking now as they were back then, when they successfully galvanised public opinion against the ruthless gangsters. She captured criminals, innocents and even children in death, shining a light on the ruthless killings and refuting the long-held opinion that the mafia only killed each-other.

If you’re based in the UK or Ireland, you can tune in to 4:3 on Wednesday 29th April at 9pm BST at the link below to catch the film for yourself.

Go to the 4:3 website for all upcoming film screenings.
